Highlighting Tunisia’s Urban Resilience Case Study
Syrine Souissi was awarded the Best Paper Award at the Mediterranean Geoscience Union Annual Meeting (MedGU-25), held in Athens, Greece, from 10 to 12 November 2025. This recognition was granted by the MedGU-25 Scientific Committee and the paper was published in the conference proceedings by Springer (Scopus indexed).
The awarded work, Paper Number 686, is titled:
“Tunisia’s use case from the UDENE’s Earth Observation data cube and tools: Effect of a linked park system on heat load”.
The study was authored by Syrine Souissi, Mohamed Rajhi, Vasil Yordanov, Hamza Barkallah, Onur Lenk, Nikola Obrenović, Murat Ozbayoglu, Yücel Erbay, Branislav Pejak, Maria Antonia Brovelli, Ali Turker, and Ahmed El Fadhel.
Promoting Sustainable Urban Development
The work focuses on the Tunisian use case of the UDENE project, exploring how linked park systems influence urban heat load, using the project’s Earth Observation data cube and analytical tools. The study contributes to evidence-based strategies for sustainable urban planning and climate-adaptive solutions.
Recognition of Collaborative Efforts
As a senior data engineer on UDENE and Secretary General of the Tunisian Space Association (TUNSA), Syrine Souissi’s efforts were instrumental in advancing the Tunisian case study.
